As a fully paid up member of the NLP cult.

I am a convert.

Beware the preaching.

Or to put it another way, the weekend was amazing and eye opening and mind blowing and life changing all at once. There is only forward and up from here.

I look forward to the discussions with Kol which will naturally follow.

Edited to change my workplace (NPL) into the subject I intended to talk about (NLP)

And you can tell me all about it too! I would enjoy very much discussing that with you.

Ooooooh. Now there's a thought. What shall we do then? Where shall we go?

Seeing as we've done Chinese already, would you like to try the Lebanese place across from me? I won't be able to leave work until 5.30 you see, as I'll have been out at an interview in the afternoon.

Why would Kol be involved in NLP? that surprises me if he is.

Winnah!

I don't dispute it's effectiveness, only the idea that on a fundemental level it is different from any other faith system.

arguing about its validity as a path to peace of mind is like arguing about the validity of using a hot air baloon or a helicopter to fly.

but i doubt that Kath is going to start preaching "the one true way"

now, who moved the cheese?

It is my belief (not value, did you see what I did there :P) that religion has one core tenet "You will obey". I wasn't aware that NLP prescribed a core value system and obedience towards it.

Ah, neuro linguistic plumbing. A friend of mine used to swear by it. He paid a lot of money for the privilege, too.

I get the impression that NLP develops Jungian models in many ways. It could well be compatible with my own Christian Existentialism. Interesting.

I mistrust NLP very much, and I also know that many people find it useful. It's a constructivist approach, I don't like that, being more interested in relational ones. I went to see Richard Bandler speak once. He was opening for Robert Anton Wilson. I disliked him and most of what he said intensely.

Be interesting to debate with you. :)

Admit to being completely and utterly fascinated. I have been very interested in the little tidbits I have heard about it, but haven't been able to investigate due to funds. Am insanely jealous that you are having a meal with [livejournal.com profile] cookwitch and I can't be there. *pout*

Perhaps on that relaxing weekend we discussed??? }:)

My favourite NLP saying is also one of my favourite and accurate life guidelines.
The map is not the terrain.

NLP has a lot of worthwhile and useful ideas. However, I've met some awful, awful people who preach it, and when they intterupt conversations with 'Don't say the word But' and 'I can cure your ailments with positive thinking' I want to poke their eyes out.
