I have had enough!
Of Welsh Dragon sausages having to change their name as they do not contain dragon, of packets of peanuts needing to carry “may contain nuts” warnings, and of many other foolish rulings.
I propose that on the 20th December (time to spread the word) as many people as possible call their local Trading Standards office and complain that:
1) There is no shepherd in all major supermarket own brand Shepherd’s Pie.
2) There is no cottage in all major supermarket own brand Cottage Pie.
3) There is no toad in all major supermarket own brand Toad in the Hole.
I could go on, but I think that these simple examples highlight the point!
Who is with me? Pass it on!

Date: 2006-12-06 02:10 pm (UTC)"Dragon pork sausages" would have been fine.
From the BBC, not tabloid per se...
Date: 2006-12-06 02:25 pm (UTC)The ingredients - including pork - are listed on the Welsh Dragon Sausages' label but both the supplier and Black Mountains Smokery were informed it was an offence and they were breaking the law over the misleading name.
