Who created that petition? My experience of the the NHS system has been fine so far (even with being told I need to loose weight) I hope its not been made by someone who was refused treatment due to it being unsuitable for them or someone who is unaware of the actual causes of the large delays. But then I have been very fortunate in my treatment so far. I'll sign it anyway cause it could always use more money...most of the problems with the NHS system is mainly down to individual care trusts and their lack of funding set aside for this kind of treatment.
I was at Charing cross and there seemed to be more than a few disgruntled patients there... Personally, my only issue was with the guy on reception who didn't know his arse from his elbow and couldn't even make a simple appointment
The way the setup is, its designed to not let through those who it is not right for. After all, at my appointment on monday (which was the first consultation with the surgery, a point after referals) it was made evry clear that this procedure is not reversable and has to be got right first time. Thereare so many sessions with Psychiatrists just to make sure that this is whats right for you and that its not some other cause masquerading as GID. There are always people who want it all to be faster but then there are a lot who thinkit needs to be longer and harder but they generally are the ones who made the wrong decision.
As for me I feel like its been a long journey, but I also know exactly where all the holds have been...and thats not with the people who actually treat me...its the care tusts that cause all the delays...that and the speed of admin.
