The Knight's Tale came from a 10,000-line story from Boccaccio, which Chaucer brought down to 2,000. The rap version takes it to 400 lines.

does this mean that language is becoming more efficient, that we can use fewer words to paint the same picture in a readers head... or we're getting lazy and over simplifying things creating future generations of wasted space
